Welcome to Risk of Asbestos
The mesothelioma is the cancer that needs to be tackled with the urgency that has not been displayed in the recent past. It is that cancer which has its roots in the past use of mineral known as asbestos. This mineral occurs naturally in nature and has many qualities due to which it was used quite frequently in various applications. The asbestos was used in construction sites, ship yards, oil refineries, and even in many domestic applications. As a result of this widespread use of asbestos millions of people were exposed to this dangerous mineral. Majority of these people now run the risk of developing this cancer.
Asbestos is primarily found in three forms. These three forms are the black asbestos, the white asbestos, and the blue asbestos. Out of these three forms the most dangerous forms are the black asbestos, and the blue asbestos. The latest research has even cited the white asbestos as potentially dangerous to the human body. When the asbestos is disturbed then asbestos fibers and dust are released which can easily get past the natural barriers of the human body. These fibers are very small in size and they remain dormant for a very long period of time. As a result they remain undetected inside the body and after a long time period they start interfering with the working of the mesothelial cells. Mesothelium is the membrane that forms a protective lining around majority of the internal organs of the human body. When the asbestos fibers start interfering with the working of the mesothelial cells then it results in the development of cancerous cells in the region.
Another major factor that makes mesothelioma a cause of concern is that its symptoms are very much similar to those of other more commonly occurring diseases. As a result by the time mesothelioma is detected it has already advanced into the final stages. At that stage the best that the physician can do is alleviate the suffering of the patient. |
